In the Bible we learn that although there would be false prophets in the last days, “by their fruits [we] shall know them”. Fruits of a prophet include his actions and work.

There are many “fruits” or evidences of the Prophet Joseph Smith. My favorite is the Book of Mormon. That’s how I know he was a real prophet and was called of God. I have read the book and asked God if it was true. He told me it was through feeling the Holy Ghost.

I’ve tasted the fruit of his work, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price, and felt the Spirit of the Lord confirm to be my personal revelation that he was indeed a Prophet of God in these latter-days. One can only come to know that Joseph was a prophet, in the same way that one comes to know that Jesus is the Christ, and that is by divine personal revelation, and by no other way.

When I was about 12 until I was about 14, I was really stuck on this one. I thought and thought about whether I had received an answer from God about this. I wanted to believe it but worried as I listened to others in my group of family and friends say that they knew and didn’t know if I knew. I read the Book of Mormon that summer and I went camping with a group of friends. While there I took an hour of quiet time and read my scriptures. I read Joseph Smith’s own words about what he saw when he asked God which church he should join. I lifted my gaze to the trees around me as I felt so peaceful and quiet about the fact that God and Jesus Christ appeared to a boy at the right time for the world and for him. I felt still and like I wanted to just sit there forever. Even the quality of the light and air around me changed. The spirit of God that teaches our spirit about truth is so difficult to describe but when you feel it and recognize what you are feeling, you will see other times when you felt that same enobling, uplifting influence.. I knew then, that I had felt that feeling many times before and that piece by piece, the Lord led me to a conviction of my own.

I know that Joseph Smith is truly a prophet. He restored the gospel to the earth. I’m truly grateful for being in the church my whole life. I was baptized when I was eight. I truly have a testimony that Joseph smith is was a true prophet. I know that President Thomas S Monson is truly a prophet of god today. I know that the church is true, and I know that the gospel is such a blessing in my life.

I know without any shadow of doubt in my heart that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to the 14-year old Joseph Smith on 1819. He (Joseph Smith) was chosen to restore the true church of Jesus Christ here in earth which was lost in the ancient times. Joseph Smith translated through the power of God a record about the inhabitants of ancient america which we now know as the Book of Mormon. The book tells about the Saviour’s other fold and their faith towards Him who is their God and our God. Joseph Smith’s work was sealed by his own blood. He died innocent and was triumphant until the end! I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the only true church upon the face of the earth today. These, I leave humbly, in the name of our Saviour and Redeemer, even Jesus Christ. Amen.
